SAE 4130 Quality Alloy steel | AISI 4130-ASTM A29
As a chromium-molybdenum alloy structural steel in the American standard ASTM A29, SAE 4130 steel is usually used in the quenched and tempered condition and has the following characteristics:
- High strength
- Good toughness
- Good weldability
- Good heat resistance
- Good machinability
- High hardenability
SAE 4130 steel has a wide range of applications, including aerospace (manufacturing aircraft engines, turbines and other parts), automotive manufacturing (manufacturing engines, transmission systems and suspension systems and other parts), chemical industry (such as high-pressure pipes and flanges) and mechanical manufacturing (manufacturing high-strength bearings, gears and other parts)

SAE 4130 STEEL HEAT TREATMENT
- Normalizing:870-900°C,air cooling
- Annealing:830 – 850°C, furnace cooling ,hardness below 229 HBW
- Isothermal Annealing：Cooling from austenitizing temperature 855°C to 675°C with 4 hours holding, furnace cooling ,hardness below 174 HBW
- Quenching:860-880°C, water quench
- Tempering:640-660°C,hardness 197-237HBW.
